Keynote Speakers

Josh Brake
Assistant Professor of Engineering
Josh Brake loves the next generation of builders. After falling in love with teaching during his undergraduate days at LeTourneau University, he moved to Southern California to continue his studies in electrical engineering at the California Institute of Technology. After completing his PhD in 2019, he joined the faculty at Harvey Mudd College, a liberal arts college thirty miles east of Los Angeles in Claremont, CA. At Mudd, he works alongside his colleagues to cultivate the next generation of engineering leaders, helping them bring together technical excellence and an awareness of the societal impact of their work.
Josh has many interests and hobbies, the most important of which is spending time with his wife and three young children. When he's not towing his kids around town in the bike trailer or teaching, you can find him working with his group of research students developing new optical tools for biomedicine or sitting around a table talking about what it means to use and build technology in a way that promotes human flourishing. Every Monday night, you'll find him at the keyboard, putting the finishing touches on his latest essay for his blog, The Absent-Minded Professor. You can find more about Josh and his work at www.joshbrake.com.
